In my opinion, I don't think the MLDA should be lowered for many reasons. One reason that I think that it shouldn't be lowered is that I don't think that teenagers wouldn't be mature or responsible enough to handle drinking at their age. Another reason is that alcohol is addicting and it a teenager can become addicted very easily if they drink to much. My final reason is that I dont think that Teenagers would be well educated enough to know all the real dangers of what could happen if they drank to much alcohol or if they drink and drive.
Most 18 year olds are still in highschool and some are still immature and irresponsible. So if highschoolers are having parties then I would say that there would be a lot of drinking going on. If they dont know what is a safe amount to drink and they dink to much and then drive home then there could be many bad things that could happen. Thigs such as alcohol poisoning, a car crash, and even deaths could happen if teenagers weren't responsible drinkers.
If alcohol is legal to 18 year olds then they could be drinking it all the time. If they drink it all the time then there is a good possibility that they could become addicted to it. If they become addicted to it they could be drinking it all the time and possibly become drunk all the time. Being drunk all the time can lead to doing things that you normally wouldn't do if you weren't drunk. Things could possibly happen that you would regret doing when you are sober.
I don't think most teenagers aren't well educated enough to know all the real dangers alcohol can do to you. I think that if the MLDA was lowered to 18 then teens would take it for granted and abuse the privilege to drink at such a young age. I don't tink that teenagers who drank would realize all the harmful things that alcohol can do until it actually happened and no one would ever want anthying bad to happen. That is my opinion on why I don't agree with the MLDA being lowered.
